Review – Illusionary by Zoraida Córdova

Cover for "Illusionary" by Zoraida Córdova, showing prince Castian and Renata Convida depicted as statues. Between them is the Knife of Memory.

“Illusionary” by Zoraida Córdova is the final book in the “Hollow Crown” trilogy (after “Incendiary”), and it’s an apt finale for the series, although the book is not as good or as innovative as the first one.

Continuing the story of Renata Convida, she has been forced to escape along his once most ardent enemy, prince Castian, trying to live incognito while they find a way to retrieve the long-lost magical item, the Knife of Memory, which should end the unjust rule of King Fernando.

But every day that passes, new memories emerge and it becomes clear that they cannot remain as enemies. In their travels, they will reencounter with old friends, enemies and make new ones, if they are to finish their quest.

Really engaging, full of action and romance, this is a great sendoff for the series.
