Review – A Lot Like Adiós by Alexis Daria

Cover for "A Lot Like Adiós" by Alexis Daria, showing a Latino couple face to face, sharing an embrace, while in the background we can see the iconic Empire State Building.

“A Lot Like Adiós” by Alexis Daria is a romance novel, sort of a follow up to “You Had Me at Hola”, since they share some characters, so you will have a kick if you read the successful first novel by Daria.

Continuing with my Latino author reads, this novel is a slick, easy to read, page turner. It follows the story of Gabriel “Gabe” and Michelle “Mich”, a couple of Latino teenagers who were best friends until a fateful evening when their relationship was cut short.

Almost a decade later, a business proposal gets them together and they must navigate their past relationship, the family conflicts and find if they still have a future or not. The description of Latino and mixed families is fantastic, and I won’t deny that some of the themes resonated a lot with my own experience.

I loved the novel and will eagerly await for the next one in the series, because I hope there is one for the missing Prima of Power.
